Frequently Asked Questions

How can I join?

If you are a SAMC member and new to the National Capital Region, please contact your installation POC to join the MDW chapter. If you are a SAMC candidate, please contact your installation POC for a current welcome packet. The MDW SAMC holds bi-weekly study groups on Wednesdays at 1230. The MDW Command holds quarterly Sergeant Audie Murphy Award (SAMA) selection boards on the Fort McNair portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA.

Who is eligible to compete for membership in MDW region?

All Active, Reserve, and National Guard NCOs in the National Capital Region, Corporal through First Sergeant, are eligible to compete for membership in the MDW SAMC. In addition, the MDW Command Sergeant Major has the discretion to grant eligibility for tenant units on MDW installations to compete for membership in the MDW SAMC.

Honorary membership may be extended to selected personnel who fit the image of a SAMC member but would not normally be allowed to compete. Careful evaluation must be taken by the approving authority to ensure that the spirit and intent of the program is preserved.

Sergeant Morales members in good standing will be extended honorary membership. They will receive a membership card and the opportunity to participate in all SAMC activities. They will not receive a certificate of achievement or medallion.

How often do you meet?

The MDW Sergeant Audie Murphy Club (SAMC) chapter meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 1145. Meetings are held virtually. Please contact your installation POC for dial-in information. Changes to regularly scheduled meetings are posted on the chapter Facebook page.
